Managing the Excess Floodwaters in the Lake Hemrin Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques

نویسندگان

چکیده

Lake Hemrin is located in the middle east of Iraq, about 50 km from Iraqi-Iranian border. The lake main fish source and provides water for nearby farms. However, due to various socio-economic environmental management issues, system a difficult resources challenge. Moreover, receives floodwaters annually over its storage capacity; therefore, there risk flooding areas downstream lake. To this end, research developed optimization solutions design flood escape paths area using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Genetic Algorithm (GA). Among three initial proposals, i.e., Adhaim River, Wadi Naft, Salahdin, models optimized each proposals suggested that Naft would require only 3.88 km3 cut fill volume compared River 34.33 km3. latter serve more people agricultural lands. GA AHP techniques optimize have shown these can discover shorter pathways requiring less costs while retaining other features. proposed optimal path substantially influence construction flood-prevention strategies area.

Investigating the trend of changes in the eastern county's of Lake Urmia and identification of areas capable of cultivating saline plants using remote sensing and GIS

The drying of Lake Urmia has had many environmental impacts on the surrounding areas of the lake. In this research, efforts have been made to identify vegetation coverings that are compatible with the study area and then it use of multiplicative decision-making models for identify areas susceptible to cultivation of these products. In the present study, following the study of species in the reg...

Analysis of seismic vulnerability using remote sensing and GIS techniques

This paper presents a framework to integrate several sources of spatial information to derive a map of seismic vulnerability for the city of Arica, Chile, which has been historically affected by this natural hazard. The proposed method is based on generating a geographical database with different variables that are related to human activity, considering factors of potential reduction and increa...

Planetary Remote Sensing and Gis: the Convergence of Software, Techniques

Introduction: Geographic information systems (GIS), and more specifically remote sensing, have been used within the geosciences for well over two decades. In that time, the ability to handle a variety of increasingly voluminous data (both vector and raster) has allowed continued data analysis and exploitation within mainstream GIS. The uptake and use of GIS has not been mirrored within the plan...
